New & first stupid question (promise I've searched already!)

Discussion in 'Introduce Yourselves' started by Rookie66, Oct 30, 2014.

  1. Morning all - very close after 3 (?) years to taking plunge & buying. One proviso....it needs to fit into garage!

Looks ok on height - but can anyone point me in the direction of a definitive length???

    Thanks in advance.

    I think 4380mm.

VW Combi Dimensions: the Type 2 T2
    The T2 has a wheelbase measuring 2,400 mm (94.5 in). It is 4,505 mm (177.4 in) long, 1,720 mm (67.7 in) wide and 2,040 mm (80.3 in) high. The engines are the 1.6L 48 hp H4, 1.6L 50 hp H4, 1.7L 66 hp H4, 1.8L 68 hp H4 and the 2.0L 70 hp H4. The transmission is 3-speed automatic / 4-speed manual.

It was in production from August 1967-July 1979 in the US and Europe. It is still in production in Brazil. Unlike previous models, the T2 features half shaft axles with CV joints. The 1971 Type 2 uses dual intake ports on the cylinder with a 50 DIN hp rate.

    Good job I said "think"

  7. Wow - this could be tight. Mrs Rookie measured "about 4.5m" at weekend. We'd already decided against spare wheel anyway - but seriously worried now :-(

Has the garage got an up and over door?
If it has, you need more clearance on length as they arc inwards as you open them.

  9. No - they swing out thankfully......possibly a bit further now too!
PS - we wouldn't have a tow bar either (we'll save the money for a garage extension;))

  10. This requires another metre as iv just got me a garage for daisy for the cold weather !!

  11. At the risk of offending anyone on the LATEbay forum....I'm assuming the prototype bay was identical in terms of length? (& the crossover....assuming I've understood the history right!)

You are right re the actual body length without the deformation panel. The defo adds length to fixed body bit!

Are you asking here simply because no one on there has the knees to bend down and make the height measurement....or is it more non of them want to don slippers outside 'at this time' of year when the old folks home has the heating on full monty?

You can ask, and probably get an answer in the end amongst the leg pulling.

Pull the same caper on their website, and a flurry of angry correspondence might get sent to the letters section of the guardian.
