It's a common misconception zed. the 'moonraker' bit is the interior, the 'dirty great poptop' was the optional 'Devon Double Top' roof which was availible for only the last couple of years I think. Hello Ollie by the way I live in brighton as well although my workshop isn't. Give me a shout if you need any help
Cheers! Good to know. Whereabouts is the workshop? Picking the bus up from the welders in Hove tomorrow. Thankfully the only issue was the jacking points...
That looks a stunning bus Ollie ,I have a moonraker too ,amazing to see an original tin top conversion All your storys sound very familiar ,you will win dont give up
Cheers! It's been a nervous couple of weeks getting things properly checked out but it seems in pretty decent shape - especially as it has been parked on Brighton streets for the last 15 years! Really want to keep the 78 moonraker interior as original as possible as it is also in pretty good condition, all things considered!
Margarita the original-condition Moonraker says hello and welcome. I drove mine from Cheshire to Kent after I bought it and only when it started raining half way home did I realise how badly the windscreen leaked. £800 later it stopped. Heh. Is your interior ok? I have some replacement bits and pieces if not, as does another member I know.
Ouch! That's the kind of pain I am feeling. Was £425 to resolve my fuel leak. Ended up being a loose hose clip but it was engine out before that could be confirmed! The interior not too bad at all really. Just a bit tatty in places. It hasn't been touched ever (bar the cushions). Original Lino and carpet all good. Headliner good. All cushions have been replaced by previous owner but covered in a very cool fabric that looks like an original choice. Units pretty good on front faces and I now have all the replacement brown door handles I need. Edging strips missing in places. Tops a bit swollen so will swap out for look-a-like melamine. Curtains are original brown flowery things with only one tatty at the back (perfectly repairable). Cooker is shiny bar and fridge pretty good too... Cab velour cab seats are shot so have new pads and covers on order! Would love to see some snaps of your for inspiration! Ollie
Mine was really tatty but I manged to pick up another from ebay for £29.99 - brother in law installed it for me. http://s1015.photobucket.com/user/lordcongi/media/IMG_00801.jpg.html?sort=3&o=54
