I was flagged down in the Homebase's car park by a bloke in a Hillman Imp a while back who asked for my address. This came in the post Lovely eh?
That's brilliant and it proves the cynical ones like me wrong, and I like that My missus has access to a private box at the football through work so a few weeks back we decided to give it a go, because it was also free food and drink we went on the bus and I had a great time, we were given loads of momentos, a program, the team sheet, a lanyard with a special pass badge and all sorts of tat, coming home on the bus there was young lad who had obviously been and was reading his program, a proper supporter, my missus gave him all our free stuff, he was overwhelmed, he really was shocked, and that made her feel great, I can't remember how I felt because I was smashed from all the free booze
It was odd because the guy was a bit brash and I initially thought he was going to complain about VW owners. He started off by saying 'I've been looking for one of you VW guys!!...' Made my day when I received the letter
That's a lovely gesture. I got to know elderly couple who'd walk past my garage everyday I was building my bug. I was early 20's and it took me 2 years. The guy would always stop and talk and said he'd got a Clymer manual for a bug. I woke up one afternoon after working late into the night to find the manual on my doorstep. I didn't see him for a while but caught up some time later. he'd not been well and that was the last I saw of him. Some weeks later his wife came by to tell me he'd passed away and that he'd wanted to walk by to see how my car was doing, it had kept him positive. She often stopped by and said hi, I think it cheered her up too
