Which to my mind just goes to prove the English have been expecting independence from the onset of the Scottish devolution. Next Wales, Northern Ireland, Gibralter, India, Australia, America....
I don't like Scottish politicians since they voted that they should not pay tuition fees then voted that the English should even though it was nothing to do with them. As was said at the time it was a cheap shot at the normal English family and a cavalier approach to democracy . Their little dig is going to cost me a fortune. I don't want Scottish politicians to have any say about our matters if they stay or go while they have their own parliament over which the English have no say.
According to Billy Bragg a yes vote will herald a change in British politics. I think not - if the establishment loses Scotland they will try to tighten their grip. Expect the divides to grow bigger and the propoganda to intensify, expect more division and more hatred. Divide and conquer and a wounded dog is a dangerous animal! Meanwhile north of the border expect more of the same!
My Dad's a Scot and not prone to a rashness, but said he'd vote yes if he were in Scotland now. And he a Scot, who along with his many siblings left Scotland in the late 40's to spread themselves between Perth in Aussie land, Canada and England. The bottom dropped out of the fishing industry and there was feck all else happening. Most of them went to Uni on the way. But still, life isn't all about money for us peasants even if it is to our lords and masters. The thought of living in an un-nuclear country that isn't right now planning to pay "a major role" in the middle east troubles etc etc et flippin cetera must be tempting whatever else the future may or may not hold. To be honest listening to the no campaign you'd think the Scots were about to become begging destitutes by voting yes. What poppycock, I might even move there myself.
I see Cameron last night was saying if you vote yes there is no going back ,blackmail great tool... Why on earth can there just be a trail period ,if they prosper then good on them ,if they do not England gets to bail them out [not that England has made a good job of making themselves solvent]... I`d still go visit Scotland ,it is a great place besides the midgets..[not small people the annoying flies]
Why are the rest of the UK so keen on Scotland staying? Just did some googling and it would seem that if you take into account the pay in, take out figures Scotland receives more than it pays in tax, including oil it, would appear that we (rest of the UK) pay the balance (NI is even more!) So the rest of us are paying of their free this and free that which we don't get? After all the English bashing if they vote No I do hope that the Scottish don't go foreword with a you are lucky to have us attitude. I didn't want them to go but I have come to the opinion that they should vote Yes and I wish them well, you never know it might be good for all of us.
Iv'e been subjected to Bagpipes all weekend in northern Spain, At first I thought I was having a bad dream it's a celtic thing apparently not just jockish
