Good work! It reminds me of when I found one in a farmers field....it had been sitting for over ten years too. I bought it, and when he asked how I was going to get it on a trailer down there, I told him I was going to drive it out! He wasn't having any of it, but I put a new battery on, fresh petrol in, had a good old tinker with it, and fired it up :0) I waited till I was off the mud to pump the tyres up though! Excellent progress! Keep it up :0)
I would like to say thanks to 73baysteve for letting me have the windscreen it's very much appreciated I just hope I don't crack this one
Little update Both of arches and rear corners fitted The camper had two big plates welded from the chassis to the inner sills I don't know why but ive removed them and I was surprised not to bad sills need replacing but I was going to do that any as the ends are not that good they turn up tomorrow from jk and I will start fitting them on Saturday I've been looking for a cad floor but only see lhd ones can any tell me where I can get a rhd one please
And ive treated my self to a new welding mask only cheap one from eBay but it's a lot better then my old one
The sills turned up yesterday and I don't like things sitting around to long so started to fit them today but first I had to cut the old ones out trying not to damage the floor it was the hardest thing I've done on it so far but one side is nearly done just the middle sill and out to go and then start the other side I'm not looking forward to that The bottom of the sliding door looked like it had loads of filler in it but it was an estate agents for sale sign I will be keeping that
I was going to leave them on but some old boy said it would be so rotten your going to wish you never go it so they come off and I'm still glad I got it and I can't wait to see him again
Middle sill in outter sill on repaired sliding door runner and the door still shuts so not to bad The other inner sill cut out and the new one welded in place just need to order some more panels to finish
Started the bottom of the sliding door yesterday replaced the inner bottom and the outer skin I must say the out skin was from gsf but it's a good panel not like the normal stuff form gsf The near side of the camper is nearly done just got to do the bottom of the B post that's on order and will do that next week end and the centre outrigger and jacking point will be done tomorrow and last week I cut the front cross member out as it was a bit soft so hopefully I will be fitting that as well I've got a busy week this week I'm going to pick up a 1303 vw beetle it's been off the road 8 years and it's in bits and I want it to be running and driving and the welding done all by the end of the week wish me luck
Started putting the beetle together to day The first time it's been on its wheels for a long time the engine needs putting back together and hoping to have it in by Tuesday
Front cross member in and the two rear jacking points in aswell had to do some repair on the floor supports (top hats) only where it fits to the sills but I'm not impressed with the jacking points from gsf so I modified them to fit Making sure it fitted Welded in place Old one out New ones in Day 8 of welding and 5 grinders down and I think I've got about 3 more days welding so probably 3 more grinders aswell
Cheers buddy Bosch grinder not a cheap Poundland one I'm looking to get a air grinder at the min but not sure if my compressor is up for the job
