Just spent a fantastic week here. Best vue from a pitch that i've ever seen. 20 min walk to Keswick, through the woods. Lots of open space on site even though it was full. Very clean heated washrooms. A large family room with micro wave, cooker, freezer etc. Nice friendly staff and a well stocked shop. http://www.castlerigg.co.uk/
We were looking over the lake to Catbells. 2nd day walked in to Keswick and took the boat to the base of Catbells then climbed up it. Photo from the top looking back at campsite.
Not all pitches have a vue so ask when you book. Castlerigg farm campsite is over the road but didn't seem as good. Nice cafe on site and a pub at the entrance. I'll defo be going back here. The weather was very kind so that always helps.
Ha no way, we must of just missed you, we left today from pitch 51. Ha lovely campsite. Weather was glorious today.
We arrived Tuesday morning and left Friday. Glorious until Friday morning. Pitch 44. I'll be back next year.
Ah right, we only went for the night, before the kids go back. Did you try the veggie pub? Not too bad food wise, we've had better thou, beers nice thou
We had a quick look in but it was empty. I did notice the menu had lots of veggie stuff on it. Normally would have but didn't have time.
That's the beauty of it, it's always fairly quiet. There's three sitting areas, one for the hotel residents, one beer garden and one for the joe public, which you can see thru the windows. Did you go for the walk they the woods to Keswick, lovely walk that.
Yip, a couple of times. Very nice houses at the bottom. Also went to the stone circle. Cheated after getting down from Catbells. Went to Booths supermarket for food then got a taxi back to the site. Cheaper than the bus and my knees were knackered.
Stunning site ,have walked past the site but a little expensive for the single camper like myself Keswick and surrounding area is stunning ,great pictures
