We need it to keep flying as it may need to be re-commissioned as I see the new 'Lightning' is grounded for Faiford.
@tuesday_wildchild / @Terrordales Here you go. Went over half an hour ago. If I'd been a minute earlier I'd have the camera set up and everything. As it was i looked out of the windscreen and saw the Vulcan dead ahead, dumped the car, grabbed camera and fired. It was lower than I expected too. And this AWACS came over as I was doing this post. These come over daily.
I remember a Vulcan flying over our primary school while we were playing football. It was bloody enormous
The problem is with the Vulcans engines, they are coming up towards the end of the lifetime cycle - the airframe is absolutely fine now but the engines aren't & there are none available, apparently!
Unfortunately not, from whats been said no one has the capability of producing the parts required. Rolls Royce aren't able to help, its on '558's Facebook page
Here you go, a chance to fly in one of the Lancasters at the end of the month. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/prmts/article-2713470/Win-chance-fly-Lancaster-Bomber.html
BBC look north had just reported the Canadian Lancaster has left Canada and should be landing in Lincolnshire this afternoon. Cameras at the ready.
Looks like the Red Arrows are flying over Newark. May get chance to head over to Lincoln. Camera is ready but rain is forecast.
