I'm a bit out of touch with Sunday mornings now as the eldest trains on Monday nights. With Lions it was about £15 for the two hour session with free coaching, starting from scratch. Early this year it changed as Snozone stopped Lions training up beginners as they wanted the income. It may have changed back but i'll have to confirm this next week. It's about £50 for a family membership but you can have taster sessions as a guest. Our eldest whilst liking skiing, got fed up with just a simple run down but found the challenge in the racing team. Look at their website (terrordale put it up earlier in this thread.) Hope this helps.
@Terrordales Just shown your photos to my eldest and she wants to come to Oz. She thinks the wombat is a bit weird.
We get them on the slopes quite regularly along with kangaroos & wallabies, we even get the occasional snake This is a Tiger snake from a couple of years ago, it was very late in the season but even so it's unusual to see them on the snow. It was probably disturbed from where it was over wintering & is off to look for somewhere to hole up until the weather & ground warmed up a bit more
Thanks Jono. Might give it a go. trouble is even though the daughter is pretty advanced for her age, me n missus T are pretty poor. The Lions all look like pros! Funny thing is the instructor from kids club - Michelle moved to Bexhill on Sea, where my campers PO lived. I got her and her bloke to suss it out for me before I made the trip down to buy it.
Yeah it's not a cheap hobby. Kit does get handed down or bought second hand within the club. Parents and kids share lifts to race venues in Glasgow, Manchester or Milton Keynes including on trips abroad. It's cheaper with Lions than with Snozone. The race team members are actively encouraged to complete a Level 1 instructors course when they are 16. The skiing is being used by my 14 year old for her DofE and GCSE PE so it also has benefits later in life. If you have any questions let me know and I'll try and find the answer for you.
Moon set this morning & another day on the slopes Eldest unmarried daughter has come up here with me this morning & was grumbling about the early start, she's stopped grumbling & is off on patrol with her friend. I'm back at base for morning tea & a quick catch up on some paperwork then I'll head back out.
As @Barneyrubble has his hedgehog I present Eric The Echidna Eldest unmarried & our mate Bruce finding some untracked snow in the trees just after lunch
Had a day off yesterday, just lazed about the house & did very little. Back at work today so a couple of photos More snow overnight & this mornings sun rise Some workmates riding the lift to work with one of our happy trainee volunteers
You may have the snow, the wombat and the crazy hedgehog thing but today I have the sun. Ski prep in the garden. Mrs now wants me to iron the shirts. Better than waxing her legs!!!
Ms.T often wonders if our iron is ever used for anything other than waxing skis. I only made that mistake once & that was many years ago
No lovely sunrise picture today, it's up to 100km/h winds & blizzard conditions, with the temperature up top (with wind chill) of -21*. Most of the lifts have been put on hold & only those paid to be out & about (or those not in their right mind) are out there.
They've had to send the snow ploughs out just to keep the carpark open Meanwhile the rest of us have to go & do a sweep across the resort to check things out
Finished for the day & the night crew take over in their grooming machines Even the birds were frozen onto the trees today
Anton!!!! Stop playing in the snow & get back into your mountain hut & make us the coffee you promised. It's wild & windy out here
