Edmondo arriva a casa nostra! Edmondo the doka comes to our house!

Well Edmondo the Italian doka finally found a little part of Italy in this sceptred isle we call England. The 'little part of Italy' being our house. My wife is Italian and my two boys regard themselves as half Italian, the food is Italian. The lifestyle is a mix of Italian and English and Edmundo the doka that @Top Banana Racing Glyn dragged all the way back from Italy only to pass on on to John manyprojects has found us!

I was amazed when I first saw him at Jon's. I was under the impression it was a basket case and Jon would part it out, when I took a closer look I saw the chassis was solid and the removed front panel revealed a very solid underskin. Jon told me it was just too good to scrap and said he had set about restoring her. I told him I would love it and was after another resto project. but never thought he would part with her. Last weekend I got a phone call from Jon regarding a part for the beetle he had and trundled over to see him. While I was there we got talking about the doka and somehow I cajoled it from his grasp. I do think Jon has toomanyprojects.

Anyhow. Today we brought Edmondo to our little bit of Italy, complete with 5 cab doors, a new front panel. a new cab floor panel, some t25 sides. a turnkey engine and a load more bits. He rolls well, sits right and the rot is confined to panels as apposed to chassis and beams. the front beam is like new and the rear one as solid as a rock. the bed needs work and it also needs cab steps, sills, inner and outer both sides and battery trays.

I will update as we do some work. I think I may be buying a welder and doing this one myself.

I know what I have this time. updates and questions will come slowly as this one is just a slow burner.

I think you would be quietly impressed, Steve has seen it and say's the same as me, it's not bad, not for the faint hearted, but nothing like Rhubarb was. Lou say's you've made her day and at least it isn't as wide as the van.

Yep. I have seen them loaded up with water melons in Italy looking just like that, same green same white bumpers and red stripes.

Does anyone know what sills fit the doka, are they bay sills but just lh and rh non sliders?

Call me daft, but I actually like the rust on a commercial. unfortunately the panel replacement is going to warrant a fair bit of metal cleaning in places the rust looks best!

I seem to remember you saying something about me being greedy when I was looking at buying a panel van as I already had a camper & a microbus o_O

Bet you will be spending all your time with the elite posh single/double cab section people now, thinking you're so much more superior to the rest of us :p

Yes, we did debate it and decided it was fine as the Italian connection was part of the appeal. We think this one is going scooby too.
