My front beam has rusted through and is unrepairable - does anyone know where I can get a decent secondhand/new one from or know anyone who has got one for sale? For a Westfalia 1976 cheers
when mine was shot i added it all up 2nd beam new bearings/bushes strip and paint and decided to get a new one from these http://www.creative-engineering.com...art&page=shop.browse&category_id=25&Itemid=26
The creative engineering beams look like good gear. Or as Mork says get a decent 2nd hand one. Be careful though as they seem to rust from the inside out is polished turds are common Who told you yours is irreparable? I've seen a lot of bad ones fixed, mine included!
My RHD van has got a left hand drive beam on it - import from sunnier dryer climes. Solid as a rock and of course a genuine VW part. The only thing you need to do is swap the arm on top of the central swivel pin from your old beam, and if you have a servo brake system the servo bracket will need to be cut off and moved to the other side of the beam - otherwise you are good to go with a rust free LHD import.
Struggling to find anyone with a LHD beam am considering a new one , had a look at Creative Engineering - can anyone recommend anywhere else or a different set up? Preferably something not too complicated! Cheers
Have you tried here: http://www.coolcampers.co.uk/parts.html Bay front beams £280. Or http://www.vwbusparts.freeserve.co.uk/vwbus/bparts.html
Wot 77 Westy says. Also - there is an eBay seller with what seems like loads of LHD beams for sale - probably one of those mentioned by 77 Westy trading thru eBay.
eBay item 330998922033 being sold by Stevens VW Spares but too expensive IMHO at £550 delivered – unless it’s a Westfalia beam
bloody hell £550 delivered - I got a lhd one from FBI for £225 including torsion leaves and delivery & it was a minter too!
FBI ...... couldn't remember where I'd seen reasonable priced LHD beams (that's vitamin B12 deficiency for you).
