That's different, they're in direct competition (or atleast they were until the big take-over of 2012).....
This kind of thing is why i've signed up to an evening course in welding and fabrication at my local college lol I'm fortunate in that my best mate is a professional welder and fabricator so between him and college my hope is that i'll be able to undertake this kind of stuff myself and not have to worry about this kind of shabbiness...
So what about bad reviews? Should they be removed? Enough people on here whinge (me included) when suppliers decide not to publish their bad reviews.... Say for example I had some shocking work done by a company and didn't mention it. You have some work done by them 6 months later and it too is shocking and cists you a fortune to sort out. I say to you, yes, I knew they were crap but I didn't want to say anything. You'd be happy with that? Of course you wouldn't. A forum is supposed to help people make informed decisions about the good and the bad.
I probably think ( in hindsight btw) you should then inform that person in a pm, as I say it is in hindsight!
I buy a campervan cover and think it's crap, that's my opinion. I buy a campervan cover and think it's crap and accuse the manufacturer of deliberately misleading me, or knowingly providing equipment that is substandard, then I am asserting fact, I have to be able to prove the second option if contested - if that manufacturer takes me to court and can prove damages, and I can't establish that they mislead me - I get to pay for said damages. None of us here have goods or work supplied in the scenario here. There are consumer rights well established in this country - people should engage that process fully before 'warning others' of issues - when often they have only some of the facts.
So, in that scenario would you be allowed to share your opinion? As I said earlier, that's what I'm talking about: I have some work done that in MY OPINION is crap. I'll share my opinion with others. Its still their decision whether or not to use that supplier. I'm not talking about asserting facts or stating that the supplier is deliberately crap, just that in my opinion and experience they are.
In fact, all you need is a resto thread with a comment that the van went off to ????????? company for work and after £££££££ bills, this is what it looked like. You can't take someone to court if they are just stating provable facts.
In this scenario have you seen the van before any work was carried out, were you party to all discussions? Can you prove that they knowingly did bad work? Yes, you can give an opinion that the work looks crap - but what would happen if the company turned around and said we said it would not be up to A1 standard as it wasn't costed that way. What if the van owner merely said make it look nice and get it through it's MOT - would that work pass both those scenarios? I could reasonably argue it does. My view as mentioned a few pages ago was - you go to Zed who is comparatively cheap on costings and tells you that this work will be expensive. You go to another company and get the work done for the same amount of money and wonder why the quality is not as good, yet none of the responsibility lies with you as the consumer? In project management you have three aspects that influence each other - Time, Quality and Cost. Want it done quicker and to the same quality, it costs more. Want it to cost less, then you have to either take a hit on quality or on time and so on. When someone asks me on PM if I have an opinion on a company I have dealt with I give an honest appraisal. if I cant say something positive in open forum, then I tend to say nothing - I am not responsible for other people not researching properly.
@Moons As I said earlier, I'm not talking about this bus; just discussing the apparent rule that we're not allowed to discuss or name companies that in personal experience do shoddy work.
In that scenario, you as the op have already decided to openly share your misgivings and all that may come of it, A third party speaking from experience can add their own experience if they have their facts right - when a third party adds their opinion from what the other or op writes without knowing the truth of it, Then they leave themselves and the site open to litigation, The point is " litigation" unfortunately. If a person posts from fact then there is probably very little the offended company can do about it, when someone adds something that is questionable then that is when the trouble begins. Well that is where it began before!
Ah - ok. In that case I think I'd use words like crap, rubbish and ugly - and use the word allegedly in front or words like dangerous, deliberate and fraudsters.
Are we ok to say shut it you jam smeared, vw bay whittling, potential prostitute murderer? Or is that frowned upon in this company?
Most of that is conjecture - yes it is true I whittle, It is possible that I could be a potential prostitute murderer ( especially in a Rooooooogeley lorry park with a badly dressed transvestite that drives a 70s Japanese car and looks like a notable member on this very forum?) It is also possible I have indeed smeared my vw bay in jam, But It is mostly conjecture and you will hear from my solicited soon!
