Funny you should say that. Devon either exported LHD buses or made units for LHD buses under the name of Eurec but there is limited info if they did actually use panels. Pictures available usually just show reversed pictures of Devon buses.

  2. NO! that would just be too sick. (and not sick as in good in youf speak. Does sick mean good in youf speak?)

Ok. So now we've got it clear that Devon used panel vans and that @Birdy is anal can we get this poor blokes for sale thread back on track. No alterations will be made at the op's request

  7. Hats off to every one involved with producing 5 pages out of a for sale ad. It shows there's some interest in the old girl.
    Again,
Good luck with the sale buddy.

    So, is @Lord Congi wrong?
Had a conversation in the pub tonight and it turned out that even without bird boys input, neither of us would buy a panel conversion. No real reason other than that they're just not quite as good, in our opinions.

May I ask why they're not as good? Surely the only difference is the window rubbers and openings? Just playing devils advocate buddy and trying to be better informed

to be honest, windows and rear belt mounts is about all i know, it's not like they can be any lowerer spec' is it? i'm not slagging anyones van, but panel windows look cack is about all i can say.

  11. No I'm right Devon only Used Kombis until the 79 sundowner , like I said you could take your panel to Devon and they would convert for you.

i should clarify my opinion so i don't sound bitchy, basically look at the difference in shape between how the windows look on a microbus to a panel, the rear especially is a more pleasing fit and sits nicer
    [IMG]
i'm not a fan of the jalousie window though and have since replaced that one with a slider

cheers @physiopro as i say i wouldn't slate yours or anyones van, but the lines look nicer on a microbus conversion and the windows sit recessed.

  17. I have got to say on close inspection my panel van conversion windows bulge proud of the bodywork whereas yours are snug to the profile of the van!

exactly mate, that's the point of most peoples "dislike" if you can call it that? of panel conversions, as i say what else can it be? they are made of the same steel and have the same engine and fittments to my knowledge, the other thing i just thought of is the fact that they wouldn't have rear heating i guess but that makes no odds i blocked mine off so it all goes to the front!

I bought a panel van conversion and your correct, I feel a bit like the poor cousin. In addition the windows are near impossible to fit and I can fit a microbus window whilst drinking coffee and dunking biscuits. Too much flex in the single skin of steel as opposed to the 'proper' openings.

This aside the OP's bus is a bit special and had a great history.

  20. Overall I really like the look of mine and yes I have had to put seat belt mounts in and heating you are right. IMHO u are also right about the windows :( not sure it should be a reason not to buy unless you personally don't like them. As has already been mentioned it is a standard Devon mod. Also to date mine has cost best part if 13k including initial van sale and is full of welding and repairs! No rust now but nothing like the history this one has so all in all worth it if you have the money to spend. Personally I wanted a pristine van but had to spend money in dribs and drabs also felt that if I did it myself I could make it bespoke to me! :)
