mental, i hate xmas there is no need to start all the crap until dec 1st and shopping is fine on 24th - you get it done better as you don't have to think.
how do you think we feel, we're the fools that has to put the stuff out on the shelves cos we're swamped with it. before new year we get easter eggs in! by the time christmas is here, fed up of christmas songs.. best part customers complain because we're closed for christmas day, like we're not supposed to have a day off. everyone shopping like we're never going to open again for weeks.... the mind boggles
seriously sympathise with you tinworm ,its when I am in supermarket ,last day of shopping (for 2 days) and peeps buying like war has been declared! Toast ,anyone?
2 days? Supermarkets are open on boxing day.. Last year I finished at 8.15pm on christmas eve and started again at 8am on boxing day and it can only get worse.. Large retail chains are money grabbing mothers.
I saw Christmas cards in a card shop last week. Made me really angry and I wanted to smash the window in! I've sent them a complaint, but haven't heard back yet. I quite like Christmas, but not in August ...
Due to the fact that my father was tighter than a ducks bottom under water,my mum would start chrismas shopping on september 1st every year..Buying a bit each week, stocking up on several tins of fruit, carnation milk,a tin of ham etc , she always bought a bird's trifle mix, dried custard and the like using the excuse that "It's for chrismas"...Back then these were considered luxuries (by us). It was one time of year that we had a fresh joint of meat.Turkey. This way as kids my brother and I had special foods for the next few months. I really hope that this sort of thing does not happen today. Oh and thanks mum... I love you.
I was going to comment it does still happen today , however, we have many a distressed person come into where I work the week before Christmas not knowing how they are going to cope, have no food, have no toys for the children. In some cases , as all cases, are different if they took a leaf out of your mothers book, may be a good idea. I tend to start collecting bits for the assistance of Father Christmas , after Halloween pass's usually from charity shops as I am usually skint
We already have a few xmas presents, have to spread the purchases throughout the year or else i end up with no beer tokens for the xmas festivities
Bah hum bug , you old grinch I'm looking forward to it already myself as me and the misses got are 1st Xmas with are little one can't wait.
Three weeks ago I went into local card shop to buy a birthday card and found not just a little display of Christmas cards but the whole back wall. I must have looked dumbstruck because the assistant asked if she could help me find a Christmas card. Needless to say I walked out............. What's that all about????
I've bought all my Xmas cards and presents and started stockpiling alcohol. Only had time to wrap about half of the gifts so far, I'll finish off at the weekend. You'll never beat the supermarkets at this, so you might as well play them at their own game. Jesus would probably approve of my actions.
