This is the list for who plans on doing what job at the september event add your name and list what you plan on doing, if anyone fancies a bit of teaching or if anyone needs something explaining ask away and i'll try to sort it, for those who don't know tuesday_wildchild our organiser is not attending this one so he's asked me to promote and try to sort any problems that may arise.
Although i'm no expert i'm fairly confident on most things so if i can help or advise ask away.
Here's the original thread with details but this one is for who want's to do what etc.

rickyrooo1 - fitting new distributor and timing up of said item, possibly fitting new ball joint including arm, spark plug change.

There are 2 main things that any newbies might want to start with that I think are worth getting organised for.
The engine service and brake service and adjustment.
Other than this, another common and straightford thing to do is gearshift slop sort out.

Anything is possible and in the past there have been top end rebuilds, pop-top canvas's replaced, heater stuff, new exhausts, twin carbs (not recommended for this event). But remember you'll be doing the bulk of the work yourselves, the "teachers" are there for confidence, questions and getting you unstuck if you get stuck, though you'll find plenty of helping hands among the other campers. ;) Nobody gets left with a bus that won't run except tuesday_wildchild

I'm up for teaching something in an organised fashion this time Mr Rickster.

zed thanks - i know in the past it's been done and i'd like to get back to a bit more of an organised thing, i know when i've done jobs in the past people have milled around but maybe this time if there is anyone planning a service we actually use them as a guinea pig and gather people round for that? if i do the distibutor replacement for example we can show timing and that may be a useful addition to the service? Anyway let's see who adds what and also discuss on the friday eve/saturday morning with people in person?

    I'll be there. Probably.
Might be in a tent though.

Service would be drop the oil, explanation of setting valve clearances then everyone off to do that with any helpers checking if people aren't sure.
    Fill up the oil.
When everyone's done that, back for points plugs and timing explanation and again roving around helping/checking.
T4 engined buses will also want to change their oil filters and paper air filtered buses might wish to change these too.
This usually takes quite a while as peeps haven't done it before, so a reasonably early-ish start at 9-10am to be agreed at the time in case anyone servicing engine also wants to do brakes. I guess brake stuff might need to be a morning + again in the afternoon thing.
This is how it's worked in the past.
Simmultaneously anyone doing different random stuff will have to shout out if they need help - If Ben and Doug are coming and Louey makes it there will be plenty of help at hand.

I'll happily check what others have done.
Not getting involved in the explanation side of it though as I don't understand that myself.

So, who wants to take brakes, or alternatively I'd happily swap if someone would rather do the service teaching.

To push on this formalising thing, anyone who wants to service brakes or engine shout out and I'll start a list.

I'll do whatever i can zed but only what i know.... valve clearances i've never done, can happily do most type 4 stuff service wise or explanation wise, being a type 4 fuel injected man with hydraulic tappets i can only advise on what i've messed with..... obviously the body/running gear areas are the same so i'm happy there.

as you say zed and as i put in post 1 i'm hoping to get a list of people who want to do what and use there bus as the example.

  12. Hi. I need to check the date as we have a clash at the mo but I'd like to attend as a newbie and have a list of things to think about:
    Install leisure battery
Be able to do timing, points etc
    Rear brake service
    Discuss poptop options
    Improve fridge ventilation
Fix heating (I have too much which I understand is a little unusual?!.!.)
....and I'm sure others I've forgotten about.

Seems these are the tyoe of things that are possible? Would be great to meet some of y'all :)

Yes Bilbo, those are exactly the kind of things suited to TE.
Another general favourite is replacing the fuel lines, I've got through 5m of pipe and 30 clips in the last 2 weeks so I KNOW the world is still full of dodgy fuel lines! That's ALL the recent buses passing through the workshop. If your pipes look a bit iffy, they always look far worse once you have them off the bus and in your hand.

  14. Lets get this list rolling folks :D

Baysearcher- General loafing, reminding Robo how to set his timing, showing Robo how to set his tappets.

Tappets are first part of any service or engine adjustments. Essential 1st step so no getting out of it. You'll need a pair of rocker gaskets. :D

And get cork ones or ones with a high cork content. The hard rubbery ones are pony.

Bring some brake fluid (dot4) and a hose clip in case you have to dismantle the calipers.
