  2. cheers buddy. having comments and help keeps me going. i know it will be worth it in the long run when its up and running and i can go away in it.

it excites me already thinking about when it road worthy.

these day i normal surf lynmouth/ woolacombe /bude as newquay isnt that nice a place anymore, also a place called fishguard in wales. i do want to try the north east at some point but will wait till the camper up and running and do that as my fist surf trip :)

going to the canary island in september to surf some reef that should be fun.

nothing wrong with being a long boarder it all about just getting out their and enjoying yourself. i surf 6,4 fish tail
maybe if im down where you surf one day we could catch up.

thanks again and ill keep you posted

  3. thanks for comments exuptoy/the yourkiebar/baybug and newtovw

not 100% sure on colour yet as i know i wont have the money for a real good paint job but i do like the rat look so i was thinking along the lines of red oxide all over coved with light Gray paint but then wet and dry sanded all over so some red was coming thought the Gray, a long way off that stage yet so got a long time to think about it. time will see

new to vw thanks for your post, yours looks like a good starting point, people on here are a grate help and will keep you going as their all lovely and are always willing to give a hand/ advise

    cheers ALL

then got the rear corner tacked on. did have to make a small plate above the corner as it was rotten
    [IMG]

you can almost tell its a van yay
    [IMG]

that was all i got done on saturday as it took ages lining it all up and chopping the new panels

  10. yesterday got another full day in and im excited how the rear looking now

got the rear arch and corner seam welded. does need tidying up and one but of the rear arch i put to much heat into it and its formed a dent but going to pull that out as im going for as little filler as possible
    [IMG]

  12. and to finish my day of hard work i put the rear hatch on and gave it all a quick coat of red oxide as I'm not off till next monday now boooo.

happy with what i got done tho

was really surprised at how well the new rear hatch fitted and lined up
    [IMG]

it was about 9pm at this point but i just couldnt stop.

so started to chop all the rot out the bulk head as when I've fixed it i can get my floor on and start on the side panel

not looking to bad until the magic finding rot skew driver came out
    [IMG]

    all gone
    [IMG]

  14. cheers dog. bude is lovely indeed. looking forward to surfing in Lanzarote in september in just board shorts and rash vest it will be a first as the sea here is so cold, in September the water temp over their is 23 deg.

been working on the floor, b post, and bulk head last day i was over at the folkes house. ive also set the task of getting all the body work done inc windows in before the end of summer, got a week off in about 3 weeks so should get a few good days in then going to bug jam in the girlfriends jazz (riding in style ha) be cool to meet some of tlb off here.

made a few panels up big one for the inside of the bulk head /connecting to the b post and the small one for the front arch

    after grinding down the welds
    [IMG]

started to trim the side panel to fit new panel in but spent most the day removing filler
you can see the thin metal bent away from the filler
    [IMG]
    all welded on ;)

  18. keep it up fella! Dont spose you fancy doin a bit on mine?

  19. haha drunk is good, i havent been drunk in far too long!!
whats that, we'll have to see it purple? i like the sound of that :p haha

why dont you think you could plate it? the rest of your welding looks good enough to me!
you'd just have to make sure you kept the original curvature of the door, otherwise i imagine it could look quite odd

are you going to be getting rid of the recess for the modern badge in the tailgate too?
