Half an hour left of work and then I'm off for 5 glorious days of campervanning! Me and a mate are heading off from Reading tomorrow morning for a road trip down to Cornwall. We have a vague plan which includes hitting Newquay for a Saturday night out, otherwise we are winging it and seeing where we end up! Looking at wildcamping most of it, any suggestions for places to see, visit, things we must do? I quite fancy getting legless at the cyder farm
Menallack Farm used to be quite wild when they were still a cheese farm but may have a few facilities now. the cheese shop was great but i think they stopped producing recently http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=1467
St Winnow camp site on the bank of the river Fowey is almost wild camping and just £9 per night for the van
Not so many 'wild' spots in Cornwall - they've got the place sewn up so as you use the campsites. That said a lot of the camp sites are reasonable prices and at least you can shower! I'll be there myself in about a week's time with my sister and nephew - booked in at http://www.newperran.co.uk Been going there since I was about 5!
Found a lovely little spot at the top of Widmouth Bay which is secluded enough to camp. Its bloody windy though!!
Well the weather has opened up today for us. Still gusty but glorious sunshine here! Padstow and Newquay visited today. A few bevvies in town before kipping over at a wildcamping spot next to the River Gannal Padstow Fistral Beach, Newquay
We indeed did have some rain at Land's End but once we were back on the road we had a glimpse of sunshine!
Well, back in Reading after a great trip. Wildcamped each night and visited: Widemouth Bay, Padstow, Newquay, Lands End, Talland Bay, Polperro, Stonehenge & Watership Down. Approx 1,000 miles covered in 5 days. Will post up photos this week. Absolutely shattered, time for a holiday now...
Wonderful! You had covered plenty of places. I look forward for seeing your photos. We love camping with my family but for now, we have a 2 month old baby which would make it harder so we just booked for http://www.bluechipholidays.co.uk/devon-holiday-cottage instead of camping. Next time we will be going back to wildcamping when our child grows old enough for us to handle him. Could you also give us reviews on the places that you have camped in? I just wanna know more. Thanks. And also, have you been to these ares: http://gogreenadventurecamping.co.uk/acatalog/campsitescampingsouthwestengland.html what can you say about them? Are they good spots?
