Weld an inch here and there letting it cool or it'll go out of alignment.
Mine might have been too narrow now I think about it and it was a couple of years ago. Thought it was a freak, but now I wonder if they've lost the dimension... :(

well its strong anothe to hold :D

got to do more repairs to do on the chaise rail then clean it all up, red oxide including rear ach and rear post and chassi rail.

then will get jacking points on to line my sill up, get rear arch and corrner put on and move on to the battery try/mud flap then onto the floor.

taking a trip to machine mart tomrow to re stock up on cutting disc and a few other bits and bobs.

  4. evening all. finished work early today so got a few hours on the van

still doing the chassis rail but its close to being done.

this is how i left it last time so made a plate to go in, only did the outside of the chassis rail as i didnt want to cut all the way though so i replaced the outside then once welded to give it stright again i will the replace the inner of the chassis rail
    [IMG]

also my metal pip that runs through the chassis that houses the handbrake cable is doomed can you get the metal housing or what do people use instead

yes the back will be getting cut out and replated
    [IMG]

new plate made ready to go on
    [IMG]

ground back, looks a little better

then made a small plate for the rear arch before mud flap goes on
    [IMG]

then had to shoot out to the tool shop as my welder was driving me mad the the feed has a kink in it so was not feeding right. had to go over the weld a few time that sucked.

anyway then the good old rain started so fixed my welded and also got this as my old googles where hard to see out off

its like im ready to go paintballing but holding a angle grinder :theforce:

Dude, turn you welder up a couple of notches for the chassis welding, you don't look like you've got a good weld there, no penetration I'd guess, then you ground it all off. We don't want your bus snapping in half. :)
It helps to penetrate also if you leave a gap to fill approx thickness of the metal.

  7. cheers dude.

its a metal bender from machine mart that you clamp in a vice. only got it the other day but wish i had got one from the start now. only £40 but makes life so much easier.

  8. hi master zed :theforce:

the welder have penatrated though just not that neat. i cut a whole in the back plate and look thought to make sure. but im going to go work on it now so when my welder is fixed going to go over it again as inm not happy with the welding fully.

should have a nice up date for you all later when home.

let hope the sun stay out.

thanks for looking and all the comments people and see you all later on

  9. got a good days work on the van so im happy.

mission for today was to get the sill tacked in place and then start building the rear up but i got carried away on the floor after

clamped my jacking points in place so i could line up my sill
    [IMG]

then spent some time welding the inner and middle still together

    tacked the sill in place

i then thought why not carry on with the floor and get the floor supports back in. clean up where i was going to weld cut my floor supports to size and da da fully welding in floor suports

looking like a floor again almost yay

Some days it's all prep and cleaning up stuff, then you do get a day sticking bits back on which is much more fun! I've just spent a day filling and sanding. What used to take a week I've done today and yesterday afternoon + another job as well. A good day in Zeds Bus Garage. :)

  13. im not looking forward to the filling sanding, filling sand, filling sanding part

  14. little bit more done today as finished work at 10 am so got cracking for a few hours

    front jacking point
