Didn't mean to nag . These things have a bimetallic strip at the end, which operates the oil light at a certain temp. Trouble is, you don't get to set the temperature the thing goes off at. In a heavy van working hard with hot oil, you might find it drives you nuts. Prob better in a Beetle. PS Says it operates at 225-235*F, which is around 110*C. You can easily hit these temps in a cruising van, so will likely give you a heart attack when the oil light comes on
No problem and certainly don't want too many worry lights/gauges I see what you are saying about suitability for a Beetle versus a van.

I do like the simplicity of these, quick install, no extra dials. I'd like to know when to slow down and when to pull over. shipping is $23.95 for one, when I changed the qty to 10 the shipping only went up to $27.95
nice idea but i would be tempted to wire it to another light or buzzer as oil pressure light means stop now! but oil is a bit hot means slowdown a bit
yes I agree, but the hot oil thing flashes first and if you dont slow down and it get hotter it then goes to solid, so you should be able to differentiate - either way solid is stop straight away and flashing is slow down
I prefer the oil gauge and sender . It costs a similar amount £67.50 ..taking into account postage ,VAT and handling charges from the Post Office when it arrives in the UK. And that gives you an idea of the trend of temperature , has it warmed up yet properly showing if your oil has reached 70 degrees and your thermostat and flaps are working ..and how hot between 110 and 120 degrees e.g. my engine runs at on the motorway.
