Fen Farm East Mersey

  1. Thought it was a bit sad for Essex having so few suggested campsites so here is one we stayed at in our second ever stay in Guinevere my newly refurbished 1976 Bay, Details of Fen Farm can be found here

I know a few of us live in Essex and we chose it because it was not too far from home - whilst we were running the bus in. Though we only stayed a night it was really good fun - relaxed pitches with a play area for smaller kids which you could avoid by pitching in the furthest field. Loos especially fab with indoor and outdoor showers. Its a short walk down to the sea and a beach which might not be great for sandcastles but was perfect for early morning or late afternoon desolate walks with the dog and watching wonderful sunsets. There is a little shop you can use on an adjacent site and a pub which does Okish food within walking distance. Not the sort of place I'd stay a week but great for a weekend getaway.

  2. been to Fen farm too, and like gandt10 this was our first night out in Hoot. Totally agree with everything said, just be warned, the ground is like concrete! so putting the pegs in for the awning can be a real pain!

  4. Spent a night here on Sunday. Cost was £24 inc Electricity which might seem a bit high but the site was spotless and the facilities very clean and plenty of them. A short walk from the park took you to the beach where you can have a nice walk. We also stopped further west by another park called Seaview which is where we spotted the picture postcard beach huts. Recommended.
