One of my favourite ever days out in the van was to Dover and the spit and hurri were displaying as part of the battle of britain memorial over the cliffs at Capel le Ferne. Is due to be flying there again this Thursday to Saturday and again April 11th -13th.
Know what you mean but then weren't all british planes of WWII beautiful. The spit and hurri were definitely but even the Boulton Paul and Bristol aircraft had grace about them. The messerschmits and fokkers were angry looking compared to the spit and the russian fighters looked like they were made out of meccano. The Mustang was a nice looking plane though.
I see the meteor a lot down my way. I live next to the Martin baker ejector seat factory. They have one for testing the seats. It's cool to watch them fire a seat out of it while flying 10ft off the runway.
Working directly under the flightpath for Duxford we get allsorts flying overhead but nothing beats the squad of Spitfires they had a few years back. I am not as old as Don or Bern so cant remember them flying in anger Still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up though?
