Sounds like they know what they're doing. Folk who don't can make a right mess of a case. Worth having a line bore and thrust cut (if it needs it) done anyway. Type 1 cases are relatively soft and take a right beating. Usually the centre main split bearing goes egg-shaped, and your oil pressure drops.
