Ah, the jewel of the East(ish) Reading. Missed my connection by 30 seconds….my train was late due to people with luggage taking and age to get on and off…the Captains words not mine! So I get a whole 40 minutes extra in this paradise to explore.
My mum lives 40 ish miles away and wheelchair taxis are apparently quite rare….bear in mind she isn’t an everyday wheelchair user so needs a lot of assistance. I was quoted £450 for Xmas day, £600 to hire a modified vehicle. My assumption is we can sell it on once it’s no longer neeeded.
My mum is the sort of loon that gave up her blue badge years ago. I will look at getting one for her, apparently it can reduce road tax….she’s adamant she’s too old for mobility and I’ve given up arguing!!
Is listening to stuff on your phone speaker out loud a ‘thing’? I knew headphones were annoying but there are 3 people doing this within 20 feet. Amazing.
Check for excessive camber on the back wheels moons on those early ones the rear axle has a habbit of collapsing.
Wokingham. As in transpires, none! I’ll sign off now as I’m near destination. £79, 4 hours to cover 115 miles. No seats for most of it and no bogs. If the government want people out of their cars, this isn’t a good option as it stands.
I commuted into London every day for six years, my experience was that commuters can't cope with day trippers interfering with their daily robotic routine, like standing still to get their bearings, talking to each other etc. How dare they.....
To a degree I agree…..but I take more comfort in it having a valid, recent MOT and a fairly tidy MOT history over one that has no MOT and a terrible history
So journey home took 2 and 3/4 hours door to door and cost £40 in fuel and let’s call it 20p a mile so £60 all in. Without cancellations and missed links both journeys would be around the same time and money….you’d hope the train would be more relaxing, it’s also 1/2 to Cardiff station from my house. The big difference would be if I took 4 chums with me, where the car would still be an hour and a bit faster and 1/5 the price. I’m used to West Coast mainline which makes the Greatwestern lot look like clowns.
Moons i wish I would have known you were in Reading and I could have have drove the nine miles and taken you on a tour of the multicultural parts of Reading .
I often go to new places….I plan in advance and move to the side to get my bearings, rather than stop in the middle if the human traffic and not give a crap about anyone else.
I also grew up in a council street in the 70s and it was superb but it's a different story nowadays .
