Sorted ignition switch But I think may have other problems as soon as you let go of the key she dies. The heads have had new inlet and exhaust valves fitted by a garage I basically put the heads back on and bolted the rocker gear back. I set the timing to Tdc but I don't know where to go from there 2L Fi looks like it's not running on all cylinders? I'm guessing bit smoke too Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
Set to 7.5 BTDC on the timing scale or yes it will die. Set the valve gaps properly! It runs though, that's a start.
Have you got one of those noid lights they love for FI - check all the injectors are getting powered , then clean up the corrosion on the grounds on the engine block. And check that the wiring hasnt rotted off the resistor pack that drives the injectors. As that bus has been likely soaked in salt water, expect positive 12 volt wiring to have rotted away. It does sound like its running on two cylinders .. . The smoke looks black rather than white - so that is more likely to be too much fuel/not burning fuel than oil problems.
It was running before I pulled the motor out. All earth's cleaned. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
if the wires are incorrect it won’t feed the fuel pump unless the starters turning , double check them, double check the valve clearances
Wires on starter most have a ring terminal, and two have a spade. I assume the spade ones can go on either terminal. Valves I set them this way TDC no 1 cylinder slacken both then wind in till you feel it touch then wind in 1& 1/2 turns then lock same for all cylinders is that correct? Rockers shouldn't make a noise when you pull them back n forth? Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
Or maybe the wiring to the back of the ignition switch is wrong, as I'm sure they are separate spade terminals aren't they?
Mmmm perhaps my plastic plug has been butchered then as mine is a 79 too, I'll have to go and check later
For a first run I do half to one turn the lifters will Pump up a little more one the first run, after it’s been up to temp set again
It was running before you took the engine out, but as you took the wiring off to get the engine out you may have disturbed rotten connectors. The dual spade on the starter can go either way around.
