Rocamadour is nice - we did Germany in the van, drove down the Romantic Road, cut across to Berchesgaden and then followed the alpine road back west, through Vichy and NW France wonderful scenery, well worth it if you have time - we did it in 2 weeks but had to press on a bit towards the end of the trip!
theres a good aquarium there too (if the weather is bad etc) also remember having a great evening meal at the hotel royal vezere on the terrace overlooking the river.
If you go to rocamadour you can walk up the hill opposite, there's a cross and the best view ever... Byw had to search this post to get it We're in Puy-l'Évêque 20 minutes from dordogue.. Sent from my ART-L29 using Tapatalk
I know nothing about France - I do however know you wont be in for a couple of weeks so will burgle your gaff.
Feel free, I’m sure the bunch of bald headed young adults that’ll be here will find it quite entertaining.
Grant and Phil or are you operating some form of Harry Krishna temple? Young Adults you say - I'll lure them outside with a crate of the Prime p**s water - they will be occupied for the mere minutes I will need.
Very sobering, a strange, incredible place to walk around, very quiet, everyone silent. If anyone goes near Limoges, then this place is well worth a visit. Very sad.
Lovely to have met you & Lisa, we left just in time to hit a wild boar (small dent rear 1/4) get back for pizza and an amazing firework display in Le Bugue before getting back to camp with 15 min spare
Beyond sad… As you say the “ visitors “ are totally respectful, No talking, apart from subdued whispers between groups. It would be crass for me to say a place you must visit …..but once visited you will never forget it. No criticism at all ( and a very poignant photo) but , it is the only place I have visited in the last few years where people appeared not to be taking “ look where I am photos “ I have visited many of the ww1 sites , cemeteries etc which were very thought provoking . This village however and the way in which it has been “ preserved” is a credit to France. Sadly in the recent past idiots have sought to desecrate the site with graffiti etc. The more people who are able to see sites like this first hand the better for the future of our race. Greek temples and ruins, in my opinion , pale into relative insignificance when you consider this was 80 years ago not 2000 years ago.
