I’ve never found that with 2 pack but it certainly happens with single pack paint. coach enamel can look quite bad but the next day it looks fine the downside is it takes forever to fully harden.

Mainly for crash safety as David said . On hard impact the arse end flares outwards and more damage done on the middle section . But i know what you mean about engine fitting . But if you do it a lot it becomes just as easy .
