I’m after the little clamp that fits on the carb joining bar to secure the engine end of the throttle cable. anyone have one laying about or know what the part is actually called so I can search JK etc? It’s been lost (somehow!) transporting the engine from A to B to C and is the last piece of the puzzle before the van’s back on the road! Edit - it’s the part that joins these two together! I guess some kind of bush/pin?
I don't but I do know the only thing stopping it falling out is the bit you had in your hand. That and the spring/cup in the end of the bar are little blighters for getting lost when you forget they are there while you have it all in pieces.
Strangely this one has like a circlip round it. A bit like the one on the wiper spindle. The bit won't even pull off !
Just managed to bodge it for now with a small piece of pipe which basically does the same thing! I think that circlip is in place of a step in the actual clamp part on mine, just stops it slipping out if you take the spring off. @3901mick - do the two things separate on that one? (Edit - ignore that, just read the rest of your message ♂️) reckon the bodge job will do it for now and I can sort something more substantial when the vans back up and rolling. Thanks all!
Yeah, clamped in a vice and lightly tapped in once or twice and it was fine, just enough to not slip out. Need to do something more permanent at some point, but just want to drive the damned thing!
Hello, I guess you search for the standard VW part# "N 012 457 1" 8mm snap ring as this https://www.wagenteile.de/shop_de/no-0124571-sprengring-n0124571.html (see VW parts catalogue page 061-00 part 17, see http://www.michaelknappmann.de/bulli/michaelk/vw_bus_d/fiche/t206100.html ) The part 14 VW part# 022 133 139 that hold the pin in the joining bar is at mine plastic/nylon, not metal as earlier version VW part# 211 721 578 B ... But you have in mind that there is also a spring that pulls back the gas cable...? regards,
