Just thought I’d share a few pics of my nearly finished new interior I’ve been doing . Just got the ply head lining to do
I'll be interested to see how you do the ply headlining as I've got mine to do as well. Bought the 3 piece kit and the j-rails, just not confident how to do it. Please put up lots of pics
I didn’t buy the pre cut ply , just full sheets . I’ve done the rear section, just the cab area to do . I’ll put some pictures up later
As you can see , I’ve finished the rear section. It was relatively straightforward, but the front cab area is proving to be bit of a pain . There are more things to cut around ie; sun visors , rear view mirror and the radius of the front of the van . It was near on impossible to get all these measurements accurately on to one piece of ply so I’ve made templates of the front section and the rear section of the front panel. Once I’m happy with these I’ll transfer them on to the piece of ply to be used . i haven’t used the proper westfalia J trims but instead I’ve used a J channel carpet trim . If you’ve had a cloth headliner, you will have to remove the piece of metal that runs the length of the van . It comes off fairly easy with a hammer and chisel. The ply itself seems to be under a lot of pressure due to the curve of the roof. I ease this by giving the ply a good soaking with boiling water just to make it a little more flexible just before fitting. I hope this all makes sense
If you're anywhere near South Lincolnshire you could trace the front panel I've bought? Thanks for the tip about removing the metal strip.
Ha ha , if only I’d known . I’m not to far away as well . Norfolk. Thanks for the offer anyway but I’m nearly there now. Good luck fitting yours , no doubt the air will be blue but it’s well doable,
Thank you . I just done all the carpentry side of things . The seat came from rusty Lee’s then I got it upholstered.
