No idea mate. You definitely can’t delete yourself. People who have left previously, have spent days of their lives going through deleting every post they’ve ever made! A lot of effort just because someone made a post you don’t agree with!
I think what he is saying is please don't leave over one comment. The caution over the two pac is fair enough, if blunt and I can see why you'd be offended - but its people trying to look out for you buddy. Incidentally, I thought it was really hard to get non water based paint these days - or am I incorrect with that?
You are. It's quite funny really. Often the only water based part is often the base colour. Primers and lacquers being 2-pac. That's at our level and crash repairs etc. No doubt a factory can do better. At that point you might as well paint it solid colour 2-pac right? As far as masks go, everyone I came across who 2-pac painted cars for a living used canister masks apart from me! I had air-fed, I knew I wouldn't be doing a lot of it so it seemed mad to risk anything for a few cars. They did all use a goggle version, disposables, hood up, gloves etc and so did I - it's most unpleasant, you sweat like a pig, you can't see properly, but at least with air fed you get a cool breeze in the mask. I was surrounded by people who painted cars. It was very easy to gen up from the horses mouth before I gave it a go and I probably spent £1,000+ on equipment. The way I looked at it was I was onto a £winner even if I just painted one van.
Hold tight Simon I don't think there was any malice in what the fella said just his opinion, just take a breather no need to leave anyway we like seeing all your lovely work Bazza
Don't be leaving Si, we would all miss you and your posts. Plus you can't leave us all hanging, we need to see the end of the restoration. Seeing your hard work and ability to have a crack at any job, always brings a smile to my face
I remember reading in Practical Classics how someone sprayed two pac outside with only a bare minimum mask thinking it was safe. It’s only when his neighbours lawn died overnight that he pooped himself and bought a proper mask. I’d genuinely assumed it was all water based! Must be celly that’s hard to procure these days?!
I used a proper supplier in Cambridgeshire and IIRC Dupont paint. They would only supply if they delivered so they could check it was a business. Up here I can wander into the local car paint shop and buy anything if you sound like you know what you're doing.
I think you can still get it. I used to like using it , especially when we used Belco 222 Thinners, mmmmm ! no wonder I talk gibberish at times
