For the life of me... Not sure what window this is called again.. Someone will pipe up. I started looking at the sliding door and come to the conclusion I need the lower skin and internal framework replacing. So put that aside and stripped down the windows.. Glass panes removed.. Window brush seals removed.. God knows how long they've been there... Do I leave it at that.. Clean all the Ali frame up or do I strip the frame work down. It's put together with Marmite steel 3mm screws so some nice galvanic corrosion has ensured they aren't coming out without a drill present.. Your thoughts.. My project is longterm so...??? Any thoughts/advice is welcomed. Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
Finding spare parts of anything is damaged will be ‘fun’ but if you’ve got the time, I’d completely strip it
Hey dude.. Luckily nothing is damaged. Just the brush/seals which imo are very universal. Will start looking into that. Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
I’m not 100% sure but I think the louvre window should be opposite the sliding door to allow throughput of air when cooking on the swing out cooker..... doubtless someone will correct me
Looks like a Devon louvre window? The brush seals should be available from seals direct. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
Yeah also found ebay and amazon so it's good that they are readily available. Tempted to paint the frame the same as the van... Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
Is it a claytonrite type seal around the window? Done some research and I think the just kampers one has an opening to accept aluminium rather than 5mm glass but not sure of bend radius. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
Yes believe so.. I will measure the current one I have to see if its glass or Ali style spacing Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
Doubt if you can paint it nicely without gumming up the mechanism. As you have the glass out, have you considered getting privacy glass? It will hide some of the oxidisation on the glass-brackets. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
I wouldnt paint grotty anodised aluminium without a really thorough clean.. even then the paint will not stick to the anodizing the same as bare metal.. Unless you like flaky paint.
Appreciate the response.. I have access to some bond primer specific for anodized Ali which we paint over in work. (aviation) I will be cleaning the frame up thoroughly one way or any other anywho. Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
So completely stripped it down now.. Need to procure these two additional seals which were installed. Has anyone seen this window before.. I've seen the style but not this specific one. Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
Give these guys a shout - they are open, helpful and send out samples! Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
Hi, did you manage to get the seals in the two pictures? I can get hold of the brush ones easy enough but the others I am at a loss!
