Then again Paimpont in Brittany would have it that King Arthur was from round there. They certainly seem to be cashing in on Arthurian tourist tat.

 

The historical novellist Bernard Cornwell writes him in as Welsh - just read his novel Excalibur where he says that Arthur was not actually a king. A Welsh friend reckons that Arthur is derived from the words for "the king " so could be any tribal chieftain

 

Arthur was actually from Islington, according to the Guardian. How super!

 

We have the Real Round Table in Wichester, so our Wessex royalty are legit.
Also Arthur's descendants run the teashop at Tintagel..
But dont let the fiction ruin a good legend.
