  1. Do you take out all the gubbins before putting the blanking plate on there or is it best to just leave it all on...

  2. You have to leave the piston bit in . A 10mm grub screw in the lid keeps it in place

  3. That'll be these fixed in the lid..

Not worth rigging up the choke for those cold days.. heard it was a bit rubbish anyway..

So lever and springs out, plate it off, leave piston mech in

Been years since I did mine . Yes you tap the hole in the lid . M10 or 12 can’t remember , use the spring .
You will also have to drill tap the other holes in the lid for filter base

  8. Don't loose your float chamber ball. It's the size of an atom

  10. The one at the base of the float chamber? I dropped one from my 40s on the floor. Took an hour of grovelling to find the damn thing...

  11. Your messing with my head now.. no other loose ball bearings in the photo collection just two like this and one inside the intake valve screw from the bottom....

  12. I'm going cheap style and using the Alfa air intake as a "velocity stack" has inlets for the breathers too.. and putting Ramair foam filter on that..might look weird but hopefully work.

  13. Maybe 36s are different. From memory, 40s have a ball check valve at the base of the float chamber.

I recently rebuilt my 36’s , and don’t recall this mysterious ball bearing.. although that was a few months ago, so I may have either forgotten, or lost them without noticing.. hmm, you got me wondering now!

  15. In these theres a ball chech k lve inside here

That's plugs into the bottom of the chamber
