Poked my central locking controller with a stick. I may try a more advanced fault-finding technique tomorrow.

 

Installed a oil temp dipstick sender.

Had the guage on the dash for 5 years without it working ...now it should move/work/read oil temp

I think it’s boring wiring/motors rather than the controller (which has beggar-all in it).

 

My bus is Mazda copper red metallic ...done by chap before me .What the hell .

Went for a ride out to check the (now working 1st time for me) oil temp guage.
Great...it works.
The temp never rose above 90.

Doesn't actually seem that high.

 

It has an extra Sump. ...maybe that's why?

Ok mine barely scraped past 90 all 240 miles of driving my bus today..

 

This is after 2 hours of driving, including up a mountain to 1500m.

Pretty good I'd say.

 

Might it be worth considering fitting an oil thermostat, if you have an external cooler? I was thinking of doing this on my Bug, it can take an age to warm up the oil on colder days.
