I have a two part set of ladders that I have had for years. Bought them from wickes. Trouble is they are fine for reaching the roof line at the back of the house but not high enough to reach the roof for the front of the house.
Can you buy extra ladder sections? (Ie make it a 3 part ladder). Does this option exist?
I know how ridiculous this might sound but space is limited and access tricky as it’s a terraced house. And I don’t want to buy a new set of ladders!

Roofers and window cleaners please help!

  2. No. Rent your ladder if needed from a tool hire shop.
Tripple 14 get you higher than needed on most homes

  4. if your ladder doesn't reach then that means its a good idea to pay someone else.

Park your van against the front wall, then put the ladders on the roof of the van.

  7. Or balance the ladder on top of a wheelie bin. An old boiler installer’s trick

  8. Who are you calling "an old boiler" ?

  9. My mistake. I meant a “surprisingly youthful looking” boiler installer.

  10. See if you can get the ones with a wide base and if in doubt bolt them to your house

    Fascinating to watch him.

  13. Yup not safe by todays standards but he understood the danger.
Strong tea and a woodbine was all he needed

As an ex scaffolder, I can tell you...
Health and safety makes the job sooooo much slower. You are either careful and efficient, or stupid and you die..
Just get a longer ladder, and don’t step back to admire your work.

  17. Makes my bum feel funny watching that. Especially when the ladder is behind the scaffold boards, and he has to reach around
