Just been informed @daisy1973 cant access forum at all, thought it was his password but he can’t change it or anything If the owners can’t be assed pass the buck to someone who can.
Fully aware. Seems Doug is unable to get on either. As the site is not https EVERYONE make sure you don’t use your normal/usual password and if you are change it and any other website that uses the same password. Http is not secure and easily hackable as been proven on a number of occasions. I’m no web specialist but do know this is basic stuff.
I would happily take a look even on a limited profile, if required. I'm guessing the code is injected into a footer widget, or somewhere similar. I manage as part of my day job xenoforo 2 site's which runs a multi domain setup in 6 difference languages, so got a decent understanding of this software if others are struggling. If those who manage this glorious site of ours require an injection of cash to upgrade, for goodness sake say so, I'm sure it will be forthcoming Andy
If you look at the page source with a debugger, something potentially is accessing (and running) a script from the AdVinci site. Who knows what it does. As @mikedjames suggested above, the latest release of Xenforo does appear to fix a possible security issue related to cross-site scripting, which sounds like the cause of our problems. Possible an upgrade will fix future problems? I can't see anyway to retrieve the current version number from the TLB site. A good start might be just to delete the Advinci-related code in the page footers. It may come back, however. I can't see anything anywhere else.
I'd doubt whether TLB not having a certificate is the cause of this specific problem. Worth having in the future, tho'
Doesn’t that just mean any material up to 2014 can’t be copied, past that your free to do what you like. 2014 is probably the last time it was updated.
What does this mean in English? I’ve tried to run it through google translate, but I get no option for converting English to geek, or nerd. weirdly it did ask if I wear socks with sandles, hardly ever see daylight and still live at home with my mum.
Funnily enough, I asked our local boiler guy what he thought. He recommended "wrapping some PTFE tape around it". Worth a try? I'm now getting pictures of African girls looking at me on their cellphones. It's quite disturbing .
