Most good chippys in Newport were Italian owned. The Alonzi family used to run the first chip van I ever saw, drove around the estates every teatime and evening, restocked several times, used to be able to buy '5 o' chips' - a 5p bag of chips.
Wasn't there a statistic some years ago that showed most India restuarants were actual run by Bangladeshi families?!
I asked for scraps at the chippy on my first day at work in Holmfirth....the guy said that the scraps were in the bin out back .... they called them " bits ".
