Crickey Bazza, you're really taking the mick on the old scenic route scam. To Brighton via Harry Rambo's, I meam Guiseley! Stone's throw from your"funny lot. "
I used to go to Harry Ramsdens at Guiseley with my nan, in those days it was a wooden hut and people would queue best fish and chips ever, us Yorkshire folk know how to cook fish and chips
All true They expanded , building an upmarket restaurant and the shed became a penny arcade . The (very succesful !!) business and restauraunt was sold about 20 years ago . Harry Ramsdens is now a world wide franchise , the original eatery is now `The Weatherby whaler` and nothing whatsoever to do with Harry Ramsdens , the old penny arcade / original shed site is now an Aldi .... The original chippy was as good as it got - proper fish and chips in yesterdays paper ... Ask `em for scraps down `ere and they haven`t a clue
No scraps!!! Poor behaviour. Have to say best chippy must be the Midland ones, if only for variety. Tops.
we used to get scraps in the chippy in Oxfordshire but maybe called them something else? It’s been 40 yrs so I’ve forgotten! Maybe we called them remnants, it sounds so much nicer than scraps
I'm thinking of doing a fish and chip tour of all our new Tory towns Sedgefield, Jarrow, Burnley, Newcastle, Sunderland etc
Our local chippyin Eastbourne use to give us kids a bag of crackling or scratchings and a pickled onion fa free, well it made it look like it was busy with us all outside munching
Used to be knows as scrumps in Newport, only got them in traditional chippys so they must have burnt pieces of beef dripping batter?!
Ain't not there not no more I think....I might be wrong, but I think it's gone.. There's Murgatroyds at Yeadon no so far away......or, our local chippy, as good if not better than the big fancy places
Ps, could never get the attraction of scraps... Would I like the lardy scrapings from the fryer and possibly off the floor that have been festering there all week? Er...no thanks I'll pass if it's all the same to you
I still miss Mario’s chippy in Kidderminster. Now they were the best fish and chips ever! Did you know immigrants first gave us our traditional fish n chips in the late 1800’s and the Italians revamped it during the First World War from a cafe in London?
Awful and expensive could be a review for the whole of Brighton. It’s just degrees of how awful or how expensive establishments are. I’ve never been to Radsock, never heard of it, it could be on the moon for all I know, but I bet it could knock Brighton into a cocked hat.
