Just had to renew mine, ruddy cheek. The paper ones lasted a lifetime. It's just a money spinning ID card really. Anyway
I've still got a paper one. No passport that's in date either. Have trouble getting euros to go abroad as they don't believe it's me when picking it up. Security gard was called. Almost got ugly. Stormed out of Tesco's bureau de change shouting obscenities.
Now I am over a certain age I have to renew it every three years!!! but its free and they download mugshot from passport office, downside is cannot drive as many type of vehicles as before and I think hiring a car could be a problem now! Still have my original RED licence book but the paper type has just fell apart.
Being a type 1 diabetic and over a certain age I too have to apply every 3 years and is vehicle restricted.
But our old MGs and buses still put a big smile on our mature 'nappers'! but sometimes make our wallets sad!.
I recently had to renew my HGV licence ( every three years now for me ) anyhow, they sent me my medical thing saying I had to do the three yearly treadmill test to test my ongoing condition. They paid for that. Did test passed and they sent my new license. That’s a first it normally costs a medical exam of £150 too.
