hi I am looking to replace the drivers side/ offside heat exchanger on my 1978 late bay would prefer an original but whatever is available, must be in good condition Engine is U.K. spec type 4 2 litre Can anyone help before I go th AH Schofields
Ok will drop it off the manifold and let you know, was under the impression the info I gave above was sufficient I.e. U.K. spec RHD 2 litre Schofields etc seemed to know what I needed ?
The year MAY help, late late bays had square port not oval. The engine could have been swapped or rebuilt over the years with any thing though .
Scofield’s etc. won’t know what you need from the info you have given, although a ’78 is probably an oval port. Take the rocker cover off and check the head part number, or just look at the exhaust manifold flange, no need to remove it. .
It’s totally original mechanically and one of the last 106 off the production line ,actually left the factory the day after they officially stopped making them, so yes very late and original engine !!
If thats the case then it would be square port and hydraulic lifters too! If you dont know what your looking for then just take a picture looking up at the manifold onto the head and post it up.
Btw I dnt mean to sound patronising there... unless youve had both types you wouldn't really know the difference!
Beware of the originals . They do have asbestos wadding inside ...if you do get one ( they are better ) you can uncrimp the casing and fillet it out ...it will still be more efficient than the re pro's .
If it’s one of the last off the line it’s a ’79 not ’78. And it will have square port heads as Dicky says.
Ok so date produced 27th June 1978 as a panel van which as far as I know was a day after Germany stopped producing panel vans, if anyone can lead me to some actual facts to prove otherwise please do as I am only going on vin numbers and after my bus there are only 105 on record Exchanger is same as t25 type but different shroud as far as I can see
