Good grief David. I thought you would have known! Here's what Google says. "The tie rod is a part of the steering mechanism in a vehicle. A tie rod consists of an inner and outer end. The tie rod transmits force from the steering center link or rack gear to the steering knuckle. ... This adjustment is used to set a vehicle's alignment angle." I really hope this helps you in furthering you motor vehicle knowledge!
Sorry, in the engineering world a tie rod is what holds the end caps on a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder to either end of a barrel. Should have dumbed it down for you lot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Assuming its cylinder head studs were on.. is the leak at the case end or head end?.. thing something like 'elring dirko' , curli t or permatex would seal case end it if you can get it clean enough to stick, some pop a little bit under the washers at the head end too Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
I don't know if I did the right thing but I had a bad leak on the case end on an prototype bay I had once, it was an emergency, I cleaned the hole into the case with a .22 RF cleaning rod and brush and a little bit of petrol and it worked a treat.
