under van gas tank help please

  1. Hello all,

I'm sure this must have been covered before, but I searched and couldn't find what I'm looking for.

    Anyway, onto my problem.....

I've fitted a gas tank from a US bus under mine, so I don't have to worry about carrying bottles in the van and vent holes in the floor etc.

I only intend to use it to run the fridge ( lift in/out the van style rather than permanently fitted) and maybe a cooker/ bbq on occasion too, again, outside the van.

The regulator that came on the van must be 40+ years old and I'm trying to find a replacement. It's currently fitted with a selection of elbows and joints etc, with a selection of tapered/non-tapered threads in multiple sizes.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a replacement please?

I emailed one promising looking company, who turned out to be less than helpful.

I'm sure others will have been in this situation before.

    Thank you

    Beav :)

  3. In an ideal world, I'd also like to change the barbed fitting to a one way quick release joint too.

  5. Thank you, just reading through that other thread and it's all a bit confusing for a simpleton like me.

    What does 2 stage mean?

  6. Hmm two parts to it. I'll try and find a link

  7. There's not very much space between the bit on the tank the regulator screws to and the edge of the metal shielding guard thing, I think that's why it has the right angle joints.

I'll take a pic in situ tomorrow as it's a bit dark out now

  8. Is that 2 parts in one unit, or do I need 2 separate things?

  13. hmm yes not much room at all. single stage reg then and some right angle fittings like you already have or maybe look at a bulkhead mounted one?
