I bought an extension on Ebay which attaches to the end of the belt but the metal buckle is too small. Halfords told me they don't do extensions because they aren't safe. This is on a bench seat, for the passenger, in a LHD Bay. My wife wants to sit more in the middle for the sake of her back but therefore needs a longer seat belt - any ideas?
Tried looking on the Securon site? They might do something longer. I can’t think why they would be unsafe.
Thanks but I don't want a longer seat belt - just an extension I can attach to the end of the old one. I went on the Securon site (thanks) but can't find an extension and they don't have a phone number.
John I have some seat belt webbing somewhere so if you can get the correct buckles & send them to me, I can sew something up for you, if you'd like?
There's a eBay seller that specialises in seatbelts . They sell extensions.and their site had dimensions of the buckles Update... Seller called universalpartsgroup
If it’s securon - try this place , I bought one recently and it fits fine https://www.drivers-seats.com/product/securon-seat-belt-extender/
The problem with the extenders is is how high they sit on your body, i wouldnt want one in my car i think i may have a buckle extension if thats anygood to you??
You might be looking down the wrong end of the telescope ... PM me about what the situation is with your wife's back as it sounds like you might be going around the houses looking for "sticking plasters"
.... How much further over is she trying to shift? Could you move the inertia fixing to somewhere nearer the middle on the bulkhead maybe? Just thinking the belt might not do it's job right if it's running at a different angle, meaning it takes longer for forward movement of the person to trigger the inertia catch?
JK sell a longer lap belt... https://www.justkampers.com/retractable-rear-lapbelt-kit-fixed-webbing.html This is 125 cm plus the webbing tail. This pulls out then locks from extending further once you stop pulling it until it is fully retracted again. Not inertia reel.
Hi That's very kind of you but I need to keep the belt in the van so we can use it in the meantime. I am going to explore some of the suggestions put forward in this thread. Thanks anyway.
Thanks but I have checked out the pictures and they don't appear to be the same. Thanks anyway for your help.
She is just trying to shift a few inches so that her back is better supported by the seat. I have bought a back support from Halfords but to be comfortable she needs the seat belt extended a few inches.
Thanks a lot for all the helpful advice that's been given here. I think there must be different fittings for these belts/buckles? I have decided to wait until Techenders and then I can show exactly what I'm trying to do with the stuff I have bought and then see what thoughts people have. Thanks again.
Thanks for the offer but her back is normally fine, just gets stiff after sitting in the van for longer than an hour.
Thanks for this. I have checked this out but the buckles all are different sizes to mine. Eg my wifes modern car has buckles like this but the van are very different. Hope to get this resolved through advice at TE when people can see what mine are like. Thanks again.
Maybe, if it's a few inches, you'll only have to move the anchor point away from the passenger window? We know now who's bus is going to be going for the "most Techenders snoopers in a bus at any one time" record
