Do heating engineers count? My dad was an engineer and my nephew is one When I left school they were offering engineering apprenticeships at the place where my dad worked. I refused to apply as I was a stroppy teenager and no way would I work where my dad was! Two girls I knew from school got on it. They’ve probably retired by now with a company pension!
That’s gonna go well with our potholed roads! Sinclair again. It’s gonna be the next C5 I can tell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Didn't somebody write a song about an engineer? I seem to remember our local rugby club singing about him.
If you were the IET you would call the person who fixes and installs the boiler a technician and the person who designs the boiler an engineer. Its that lack of legally enforceable distinction that makes engineers exasperated. Strangely in the USA the only technicians to call themselves engineers are the train drivers as they drive engines. Other people have to get paperwork before they can call themsleves an engineer. Even people with engineering degrees have to be registered with the state in places like the State of Oregon before claiming the title engineer . There was a recent case in Oregon where a degree qualified but unregistered electronic engineer pointed out that the radar speed traps did not work properly. He signed himself engineer. And the state took him to court for using the word Engineer in his letter, to shut him up rather than lose the free illegally gained revenue. Just be glad you British spanner wranglers can call yourself what you like and the state doesnt care.. After Brexit whenever that happens you will have less need to worry about the EU enforcing the Engineer title, and all your Scottish whisky and haggis, Wensleydale and Cheddar cheese can be made in Bulgaria as they laugh.
