Anyone got a pin removal tool for the steering idler pin bushes. I could borrow or buy off them?? I’m down in Essex if anyone’s near??? Thanks in advance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have one , sort of by default I borrowed it from @Valveandy , who originally borrowed it from @PeaSoup . I took it to Techenders to return but he`s sold the van and i`ve been meaning to contact him with a view to buying it so i`ll PM him and see what he wants to do . Either way i`m sure you`ll be able to borrow it
Yep just pass it on - I'm not going to be needing it again - happy for it just to become a communal one and passed on to whoever needs it next
Just a correct size socket and a hammers always done it for me, knock the bottom one up until it hits the top one and knock them both out together, put the upper one in from the bottom and tap until it’s in place then fit the lower
I found a bit of steel tubular leg off a childs swing with an old idler pin inside it made a precision tool for removing and replacing the bushings on the pin.
Dropped the pin out, removed the grease nipple and attempted to remove it using the socket and hammer method with no joy...... am I missing something??? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It should go. Was the socket defo small enough to clear the housing? I used this method yesterday, as I couldn't find my tool, and they came out relatively easily with a 4lb lump hammer.
Unless the bus is fairly high on axle stands you might not be getting enough swing with the hammer. I think original bushings were solid so they may be hard to shift. Modern idler pin kits have split bushes so may be easier to shift.
Thanks had to get it higher on axle stand to get them to move, then used my thumb as part of the drift so injury stopped play!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
