...that make you happy. When i first moved here i was beside myself giggling to find that there's a place called Idle (i love place names). I'd have to drive through idle from Leeds to come to work on the falling down house, it didn't matter how tired or miserable I felt, whenever i saw the sign for Idle it always made me laugh When i was told that there's The Idle Working Men's Club, i nearly peed myself laughing! - Could it get any better? oh yes, last night I found out that 'The Idle Elvis' exists! Elvis impersonators are never not funny, but an idle one...! It's kept me entertained all morning I also love that both the working men's club and elvis's websites are both circa 1997 webpage 'designs' (of course i'm not procrastinating instead of getting ready to go out for lunch!)
It`s true , went there in the `90`s as mi mate lives in Idle . He`s a virtual work-a-holic when it comes to restoring vans an` 30`s - 70`s cars so don`t read too much into the area although it`s gone downhill over the last 10 years or so , along with most of Bratford to be honest . Sadly the pub closed a few years ago .... A girl i know is in fits everytime she passes Bolton Percy out near York
Isn't Idle home to a roundabout called Five Lane Ends? Always tickled me that one... Oh and where were Jowett's built, was that Idle? Or close-by. I can't recall....loverly old cars. When I were a lad, International Harvesters was a big employer in Idle, doubt its still there.
Bedlam up the road from here. Once had a sticker that said "Twinned with L'Unacy" on the sign for a while. Dont know why but Sheepy Parva and Frisby On Wreake in Leicestershire make me smile. Oh and Penistone too of course.
Aaaaaand Great Fryupdale, Wetwang, and Whip Ma WhopMa Gate. The Glory Hole in Lincoln fnar. Hawes not how its spelt, how its said. Wiggleswick and Giggleswick.
I love the fact that when the world comes to an end, they warn you about the lack of road markings!!!
Not sure if the brewery is still going - Piddle in the Pond was a great beer. Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk
