I wish I still had my Nagra. I've still got hours of tape from recording at the Edinburgh Folk Club in the late 70's / early 80's. Most of the great folk musicians played there, luckily I have had the tapes digitalised.
If I ever win the lottery and I visit you in Oz do me a favour Don don’t get your old folk music tapes out
Pete McKludgy and the Sheep Botherers? Tommy Strawpants? Eileen Over and the Hamster Felchers? Great music, great times. You were lucky to see them in their prime. I need to get a new copy of Eileen’s “My lover done left and took my pewter tankard”, it’s worn through
Is that the one she recorded live in the back room of 'The Bamboozled Aspidistra', with one finger stuck in her ear, rocking gently whilst singing about the treeeees, and surrounded by men playing Hurdy Gurdys?
Funnily enough me and Mrs T we’re looking at these very things when we went to pick up some scaffold planks from a reclamation place in that there Leeds the other week. Didn’t buy any but they’re on our list for the future
