I had this plate made up by pmacs It is screwed to the bulkhead and sits nicely over the battery. I know Womball did similar in his bay. It works fine, diesel is combustible not inflammable which means it has to be pressurised to ignite accidentally, but being a plastic tank I think it would smash and the diesel flow out in the course of an accident rather than compress enough to ignite. The bay engine compartment is probably safer re that scenario. Harder to fill though.
Don't bank on it, Diesel like a lot of things if atomised will burn, even custard powder as Birds at Banbury found out.
You can light it with a naked flame. Oil does burn. I meant as a added danger being in the engine bay;as apposed to it not burning at all!
Presumably one 'should 'inform insurance co, coz if it does catch fire, an unprotected fuel tank suspended over an enclosed engine bay, ' might ' give them room to wriggle out.
It's a plastic tank and the main petrol tank next to it should get rid of any evidence if it does catch fire
Heater arrived. Nicely boxed kit. All parts present . Pleasantly surprised at the quality look and feel. Set it up on work bench tonight. Had a right laugh. It fired up slightly noisey and lots of white smoke, some polystyrene flew out then the smoke stopped and the heat started.
