I want your old woollies!

  1. As some of you already know, I make things from old woollies. It started from not wanting to part with my favourite woollens i'd accidentally shrunk in the new washing machine :( so i repurposed them and made gloves and things from them.

It's now become a bit of a hobby/obsession and am turning old moth eaten/shrunken or just discarded woollies into coats, hats, shawls, and other stuff. The idea is to reduce waste by turning them into useable garments again.

But i'm running out of woollies, even the charity shops are low on supply (and i'm buying good ones to shrink and chop up, hardly the eco dream!)
So, if you have any woollies you don't want/destined for the bin, please can i have them? They need to ideally be pure wool knit (lambswool, merino, cashmere or a mix of) or at least 70% wool (if a moth has eaten it, or it shrinks then it's wool!).

I could work with nasty horrible acrylics but i don't want to - that stuff is killing the planet already and feel rubbish against the skin - and natural fibres rule!

scarves, socks, jumpers, cardigans, tack tops anything, as long as it's a wool knit, I'm interested and will find a way of saving it from your bin :)

p.s. those hand knitted items from grandma or great auntie doris are usually knitted in acrylic wool :( the itchy scratchy 70's tank tops... that was real wool! :D

Get yourself some balloons and a horse and cart you are bound to get some woollens. In fact you could do a video journal of yourself travelling the highways and byways of this fair country collecting rags and bones - as long as they’re made of wool :)

Fab. Can I be your rag and bone accomplice? Do you think I should wear a bowler hat, or top hat? I’ve got a waistcoat and cravat and some pin striped trousers and a sleeveless cardigan. Que divertido! I’ve already planned my outfit
