Some generic copy by the look of it.

  3. But is it a 34 pict 4 copy?

Yep. Looks like a 34 PICT 3 to me.

  5. Pict 3 then. I may have to attempt a service if I can't sort it easily.

It might also be suffering from condensation as you have not got the right air filter on it.
So what petrol you feed it puddles around rather than going into the engine.
Get an oil bath or stock airbox cleaner with hot air pick up.
And make sure that all those "blocked" hoses are blocked and not split and leaking air.
Also that the manifold boots are not split (sometimes shows as wet with the petrol that has condensed inside and leaked out rather than dribbling around inside the engine)

But what it sounds like is a blockage. If you get carb cleaner it comes with a straw. (Wear goggles.) This allows you to spray pressurised cleaner into the carb in one hole and shoot your self in the eye with carb cleaner coming out of another hole.

There may still be dirt in the idle circuit. Some of the dirt may be "Permanent blockage caused by Made in China Blunt Machine Tool swarf welded itself to the metal"

My least favourite is crumbs of rubber off hoses disturbed when cleaning the carb...I always find my engine dies at the bottom of a long hill just after taking the carb out to clean it. So I have to clean it again...

  10. You can’t buy brand new genuine solex though.

  11. I've had no end of idle issues recently, new fuel tank, pump and filter and still after a 100 miles or so not idling correctly, I thought it was the coating from inside the tank, like a really fine stringy residue in the carb. Cleaned it out same again after an hour's drive, turns out the fuel line I had replaced is not 100% fuel proof and the ethanol in the fuel breaks down the lines from the inside out.
Replaced it with choline 2240 and not had a problem in the 300 miles I've covered since.

They may not be the one's he's on about. I just had a search on there and that's all I could find.

  18. Well, I've done a rebuild and all seems well, except....
I now have a massive flat spot which wasn't there before.
The only thing I've messed with is the main feed tube. Should it point at the internals to spread the spray about, or should it point straight into the hole?
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks as always.
    Mark.
