Paint day today - decided to brush the Epoxy 121 under the rear of the van - used around half of it so will need to buy another pair to finish off the remainder of the van.

Once the rear is complete I will start to add the rear suspension.

A few pics of of where I am up to.

Order some more paint next week plus a few bits so I can get the suspension mounted :)

Carried on with the painting this evening - using the last of Epoxy 121 to paint the remainder rear chassis - also did the two rear trays - see pics (not brill as light was fading).

Sunny day and a few hours to waste.

Discovered I had some of the Epoxy paint left so decided to tackle the cab floor and tubs.

  4. Now the sites back will add the latest instalment!

Epoxy mastic arrived this week so this evening washed under the van and went over it with a tack cloth.

Dusted off my spray gun and gave it a clean then thought I would mix a small amount to see how it goes. Not used the gun for many years so couldn’t remember the settings….

Happy with how it went on. Managed to do the front and rear wheel tubs and various other bits - surprised how far a little went.

Will see how good it really is tomorrow once its all dry.

A few pics for you (not great as light was going and my camera is playing up):

If I get time, may do some more spraying tomorrow, attempt the middle chassis rails and floor.

  5. Didn't get to do anything yesterday as the weather was damp.
See if I can do anything today!

Mixed some more epoxy and sprayed some more, targeting the chassis rails, top hats and H rails. Looking better.

Have enough paint left (hopefully) to finish the floor and pipes. If the weather is good next week will plan to do it then.

    A few pics (nothing exciting I’m afraid :( )

    Another few hours of painting.

Nearly at the end of the epoxy now (was hoping to do the rear internal floor but not enough).

Finished off under the cab floor and also the rear of the bottom of the load bay floor.

    Success today.

A week or so ago I bought a piece of tubing the right dimensions for creating the pieces that allow the brake compensator to be mounted to the chassis :)

    Started with this tube:

Cut two pieces the right size:

Used a tap to re-hone the captive nut that was OK.

Then the other hole, pushed a 7mm drill through to remove some more of the metal remains then used the tap to re-do the captive nut thread - bingo - it rethreaded brilliantly.

And here we have the unit mounted:

Taken it off and will treat the tubes to some protection and once ready to put the brake pipes on, will put it back.

Please I have managed to get over that little hiccup :)

    Brakes time.

Started to finish off the rear hubs so set about putting the rear disk brakes together and after a few head scratches now coming together.

The nearside was completed without too much drama:

Started on the offside brake and need 2 horse shoe clips so will have to wait

Try and finish off the painting of the underneath tomorrow

After watching yesterday's WSB race then the football followed by a quick walk to stretch the old legs, mixed some more epoxy and started to finish underneath off (plus a few touch ups).

    Looks better already :)

Also popped to the local motor factors to see if they stocked the horse shoe clips but alas they don’t. Although I did buy some nice and shiney M8 bolts to connect the brake back plates to the hub as the original one’s were a bit worse for wear.

Will bob a picture up later on.

Don't forget to give those horse shoe clips on the hand brake a bit of a crimp...

  19. I crimped them before putting them on but will give them another crimp - cheers.

2.50 in.. I didn't realise how much they needed crimping up. all of mine fell off while driving along. Made a real mess of the shoes and drums.
