Good morning I just Renewed the tax on my 1974 camper obviously from today its MOT exempt. I renewed tax online using the normal government tax website. While clicking through the pages I was given the option To declare that the vehicle was no longer applicable for an MOT. Simple as that
So I’ve managed to book tomorrow for my MOT. Doh! Why didn’t I wake up last week? Van is not 40 until December. Grrr. Wish me luck!
So driving out smugly today being both MOT and Tax exempt, it was today that my drivers door mirror chose to fall off and my passenger pull handle broke, grrr
I’ve just renewed my tax on line I too was given the option to declare that the vehicle was no longer applicable for an MOT SIMPLE AS mines a 76 bus by the way
What I’m not sure about is my mot has expired but tax renewal isn’t until September some time - not sure if I have to do anything or try and re- tax it early? Seems you can re-tax early but only by two months
My 75 was on SORN. Now taxed from 1 May 2018 for 1 year and MOT exempt declared, all done online, very straightforward.
Last time I am going to reply to a Mot exempted thread. I can’t believe that people can’t work it out it’s really straight forward The links with all the info has been posted many times on the 20million threads that’s been on the subject. Rant over. Scroll down the link to see the process and follow the links explaining what’s classed as modified. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/mot-changes-20-may-2018
If the V5c doesn't say Historic Vehicle you have to go to a Post Office to "tax" it and they will send the logbook off for change.
Have you found where it actually says in black and white that you don’t have to declare that it hasn’t been modified for the period till your tax runs out ? I’ve only seen this on classic vehicle club post that was on here but not on gov site . Ie we may be mot exempt but we havnt anywhere declared that it’s not been modified if we are taxed ( tax free that is to a date maybe next year ? Don’t get out of your prams , but how can you have one set of rules fa some but not others ?
